9:00-10:00 a.m. -- Registration in lobby of Greaves Concert Hall

10:00-11:30 a.m. -- Roundtable on the Future of Appalachian Literature, Greaves Concert Hall (doors open at 9:30)

    MODERATOR: Laura Sutton, editor of Appalachian literature at University Press of Kentucky.

    Presentation of awards to winners of the Danny Miller Appalachian student writing contest.

    Keynote address: Gurney Norman and Frank X Walker in dialogue.

1:30 – 2:45 p.m. Public Reading by Three Kentucky Writers, Greaves Concert Hall (doors open at 1:00)

    READERS: Gurney Norman, author of Kinfolks and poet laureate of Kentucky;

       Crystal Wilkinson, author of Blackberries, Blackberries and Water Street;     

      Wendell Berry, poet, novelist, essayist. 

3:00 – 4:30 p.m.  Festive Reception, Greaves Hall Band Room

Light refreshments; book signings; sale of books, limited edition Larkspur Press keepsake, and other memorials

    Music by Sherry Cook Stanforth and her Appalachian bands, Tellico and Sunset Dawn.

Danny Lester Miller, July 9, 1949—November 9, 2008 (ed. Barbara Houghton and Beth Sweeney), a keepsake book inspired by the memorial service in Greaves Concert Hall on November 15, 2008, supplemented with pictures and other materials from Danny’s life.
 
Danny L. Miller’s book entitled Wingless Flights: Appalachian Women in Fiction (Bowling Green State University Popular Press, 1996), a pioneering critical study of women in Appalachian literature.
