Teacher Resources
Hello teachers,
Planning for BookFest on May 14, 2010 is well underway. Already we have arranged for volunteers from Cincinnati's Playhouse in the Park and the Art Museum to lead sessions for your students. There also will be volunteers leading sessions on inventions, on journalism and on life as a Chinese-American child. We will be adding more sessions in coming months and will send you a final schedule of the day's events in the spring.
The books chosen for BookFest 2010 cover topics from ghosts to demigods, from baseball games to Elvis. The themes the
books cover are as wide as China.
To get summaries of this year's book selections along with resources to help you plan lessons, see the "Teacher Resources Links" in the upper left corner of this web page.
Registration information
This year, we are introducing an easy-to-use online system to register you and your students. However, we cannot accept payment online, so you will have to send the $13 per student by mail to my address below.
We also will need each student's parents or guardians to sign a consent form to have their child's photograph taken during BookFest. That form should also be returned by mail.
So, to get ready for BookFest, here's what you should do:
-
3. Print out both forms and have your students' parents and guardians sign the photography consent form.
-
4. Recruit at least two parent volunteers to attend BookFest as chaperones. We will supply a free lunch for each parent volunteer.
-
5. By Jan. 15, 2010, mail the photography consent forms and the BookFest fee of $13 per student to:
