Master of Arts in English

The Master of Arts in English is a flexible, multi-faceted program for students seeking career enhancement or personal enrichment.

Students share common educational experiences along with opportunities to specialize through completion of courses in literary studies, professional writing, creative writing and composition and rhetoric.

The program requires a minimum of 30 hours of coursework beginning with an introductory course designed to provide an overview of English studies, introduce students to the English faculty, and help students set goals that best correspond to their career interests.

While they're in the program, students can gain experience through the practicum in composition and rhetoric, supervised internships, and fieldwork in community literacy and professional writing.

The final step is completion of a capstone option. Students can take a comprehensive final exam in two areas or create a Master's Thesis, Master's Portfolio, or creative Master's Project..
